The Santana Catamaran

The Santana sailboat is a large, strong, and safe catamaran originally built for charters. Catamarans are stable sailboats that offer more space, comfort, and comfortable passage between Colombia and Panama.

Santana also has a large fully equipped kitchen with a stove/oven and an 800-liter freshwater tank. There are two fridges where one is reserved for the passengers. The boat has two toilets situated in one of the hulls. The Santana sailboat has music equipment and a home theater to enjoy music and movies as a group. You can also take advantage of canoe and snorkel equipment.

The catamaran has two Yanmar 50 horsepower inboard engines. She further has two large diesel tanks that combined take up to 400 liters of diesel. More than enough to travel from Colombia to Panama by engine power alone. The Santana sailboat has a 15-meter tall mast with mainsail, genoa, and spinnaker. She will under sail do up to 9 knots.

Gisbert Captain Santana

The “Gizzy” Captain

Captain Gisbert “Gizzy” Kroczeck also goes by the Spanish nickname of “Gilberto”. He was born in 1969 in Bautzen, Germany. At the age of 22, he started sailing in the lakes of Germany. He later moved to the north of Germany where he started open ocean sailing. He holds a professional worldwide cruising license for sailboats.

Gisbert has a great passion for sailing and takes great pride in keeping his boat in good condition. He is a very friendly captain that willingly shares stories from his adventures at sea. Privately he loves snorkeling, fishing, and obviously Santana’s music. He is passionate about making food and is a good cook, especially infamous for his Spaghetti Bolognese. Gisbert speaks German, English, and Spanish fluently.
